Using contact-free, continuous monitoring for COVID-19 patients, nurses at Covenant HealthCare in Michigan are identifying early signs of patient deterioration via abnormal heart rate and respiratory rate alerts. The sensing technology has been crucial to helping nurses keep “eyes on the patient” even as COVID-19 protocols call for patient doors to be closed and rounding kept to a minimum to help prevent transmission of the virus.
